Highlight of your career so far:
London Jazz Festival 2012- Sharing the stage and trading choruses with Jason Marsalis and my big bro Robert "Sput" Searight. As well as hanging and playing in Dallas with the infamous Bernard Wright.
Drumming strengths:
Always trying to create new strengths and tending to the old ones. Listening and adapting to my surroundings. Odd time signatures and creating "round" phrases on top of them. Filling in the right spaces.
Drumming means to me:
Communication, Connection, and Spirituality. Bringing people of all walks of life together with rhythm. Drumming is sacred and forever giving.
Advice for up and coming drummers:
Connect with or create a community of musicians that you refer to as family. Stay positive, humble, and open to all experiences in life. Most importantly, be good to yourself and others while enjoying this journey we call life.
How would you describe yourself:
Outgoing, Bright, Loving, Peaceful, and Goofy
When I look back on my life one day, I would like to be able to say:
First and Foremost that "I was a great friend, father, son, brother, and husband who supported his community and youth." and Second that "I exerted professionalism throughout my career and humbly created an individual sound and role in rhythm."
