Highlight of your career so far:

The US tour with Porcupine Tree and Coheed and Cambria was amazing. Being able to watch Chris Pennie and Gavin Harrison every night was an inspiration and a treat. Talking drums with them was equally rewarding and I'll never forget that experience!

Drumming strengths:

I excel at pocket and performance. When I started out I was a bit of a machine in the performance sense. I didn't move around much or appear as though I was having a great time behind the kit...that's changed greatly in the last two years and I've received many wonderful compliments because of it. I also appreciate pocket and strive to make that an important aspect of my performance in live and studio settings.

Drumming means to me:

Playing what needs to be played in order to make the song better. Meaning, I want to support the music rather than play over it. The beats and tones should add to the overall quality of the song. Being too busy or soloing over top of a song can destroy what the artist is trying to achieve through their music. Drumming  in and of itself means a great deal more than speed or complexity. I enjoy a simple pocket or a funky groove more than a blast beat or ridiculous double bass speed.

Advice for up and coming drummers:

The advice I give every drummer, beyond practicing rudiments, is to find what music drives you and to continue to buy CD's you can't play and learn how to play them. Then, when your music has run its course, branch out and buy other styles of music and CD's you can't play and learn how to play those as well.

How would you describe yourself:

An outdoor enthusiast and a laid back guy that loves to laugh. I'd say 90% of the time I put on a movie or go out to see a movie, it's a comdey. I love being outdoors and hiking, or fishing in rivers and lakes. It's important for me to spend time outside and not be sedentary with video games or tv.

When I look back on my life one day, I would like to be able to say:

That I inspired people to be better human beings in their own lives and to others. That I made people laugh infinitely more than I made people cry.
