NEW CATALOGS AND DRUMSCHOOL VISIT - A SHORT SUMMARY

a lot has been going on here the last couple of days. we finally approved the layout of one of our next year's cymbal catalogs which is now going to go into print. it turned out very nicely and i can't wait to see the final result in a week. at the same time we are already working on a second new cymbal catalog for which the layout takes much longer to complete. still a lot of work ahead of us.

on top of that, 36 students of the drumschool in ellwangen, germany visited us today with their teachers. during a factory tour we showed them how we make cymbals. i always like giving tours to young drumstudents. i always get lot of insight from talking and listenting to different drummers, especially when they are very young. thank you for taking the time to visit us!

and last but not least, i will go on a short one-week holiday now before i fly to indianapolis to attend the pasic convention there. that show always is a very special one for us and we're already looking forward to going there this year. stay tuned!

MALAYSIA LIKES OUR POSTERS

here's how "concerto music", one of our malaysian customers in kuala lumpur, displays our artist posters. not only do they put them up in their store, they even take effort to frame them in order to make them look even nicer.

making those posters is always a big investment for us. it is great to see when somebody appreciates it and uses them so beautifully like here.

thank you concerto music in kuala lumpur!

DAVE QUITS SMOKING

You need Flash to view this contents.

yesterday i hung out with dragonforce drummer dave mackintosh. he wants to quit smoking, but has never been too serious about it. i told him how i managed to quit five years ago and it seemed to encourage him to take another serious attempt.

we made this short video which shows him in my office officially quitting smoking. his fate is now evidently sealed and everyone can see it. it's tough to permanently quit smoking, especially when you are a touring musician.

please leave an encouraging video comment for dave. i know he will read it and it will support him in his attempt.

FRIENDS OF MEINL CYMBALS CONTEST - PROGRESS REPORT

the contest has now finished and more than 400 fotos have been submitted. that is more than we ever expected and i would like to thank everybody for taking the time to participate in the contest. you are amazing and so are many of the fotos we got. some of you really went above and beyond all our expectations to come up with a cool idea for the foto. we really appreciate it.

i have now made a rough preselection of those fotos which are considered for the catalog inclusion, because not all of them qualify due to low-res or the foto being blurry or other reasons. the preselection is now sent to our graphic people who will make the final choices for the catalog.

the three coolest pictures which are up for the prizes have not been chosen yet. this will happen later in the year and the winners will be contacted and announced on meinlcymbals.com. stay tuned for more info.

FRUIT BASKET

fall has arrived in meinl land in southern germany. it's getting cloudy and cold again. we won't see much sunlight for the next six months. it's that time when people get a cold or flu. by far the least favourable time of the year for me.

next thursday our company medical officer will be here offering to give a flu shot to every meinl employee who volunteers for it. ouch!

and all of a sudden there comes our esteemed mrs. meinl with a huge amount of fresh oranges, grapes, and other fruits which she handed out to the staff in order to stay strong and healthy. she knows we all work very hard and its the nature of the game that a proper lunch is often neglected. the entire team appreciates her caring attitude towards the employees. at least for the rest of this week, we'll have enough vitamines to brave all potentially harmul viruses.
