Jimmy Kadesch Checks In

Jimmy K On Tour with Hoodie Allen

I distinctly remember standing on the playground and pushing my young daughter on the swing when the phone rang. It was cool cat and Meinl Cymbal artist Jimmy Kadesch on the other line. Jimmy had already graduated from Berklee College of Music, had been making a name for himself in the drummer realm on youtube, and was gigging around the Mass region, but something was on his mind. He wanted to do more, but was a little unsure of how and which way to go.

I remember telling him that in addition to all he was doing with live gigging, to keep making his awesome drum videos because one way or another, someone would find out about him because of them. If you haven't checked out Jimmy's videos on youtube, you really should. They are some of the most imaginative drum performances I have seen in a long time. Very creative and very original.

Well, fast forward a few months and Jimmy phones me up to tell me that he got a gig with an MC by the name of Hoodie Allen. He contacted Hoodie through social media to let him know that he enjoyed Hoodie's work and that if he ever needed a drummer, to contact him. He also sent Hoodie links to his videos. Hoodie liked what he saw and heard and asked Jimmy to come up to see him for a jam. The rest is history. Jimmy has been touring with Hoodie for a couple of years now and has been having a great time.

Here's what Jimmy had to say when he checked in with me today -

"Hey Chris, just checking in. Hope all is well with you and the family! Tour just wrapped up. Anyways, here are some pictures from the Cruisin' USA tour with Hoodie Allen (essentially all the dates were sold out it was insane.) Got the meinl logo in there nice a few times! The pics are from house of blues in boston, roseland ballroom in NYC and the yost theater in santa ana, ca."

So check out Jimmy's pics that I posted (CLICK ON THEM TO ENLARGE THEM) and remember that being great at your instrument isn't all there is. You have to network and be a good hang when the time comes. Jimmy has all of it covered. Cheers Jimmy.
