Our Symphonic Cymbals

The world of cymbals and their sounds is so diverse you can’t even imagine.

Did you know that besides all of our drum-set cymbals, we also make very fine symphonic cymbals which are played by many classical orchestras around the world?

For example, here is a great recording of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra (admittedly one of the world’s best orchestras) where you can see and hear some of our symphonic cymbals in action (especially the part between 42:52 – 45:56).

Event:                         BBC Proms Festival 2013
                                  Royal Albert Hall, London, England

Conductor:                 Mariss Jansons

Orchestra:                  Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra

Music:                        Hector Berlioz - Symphonie Fantastique

Percussionist:            Guido Marggrander

When it comes to symphonic cymbals in classical music, the symphonies of the late-Romantic composer Gustav Mahler are generally accepted as the benchmark for cymbal sounds (especially his symphonies #2, #5, and #8). They are musical masterpieces and in my opinion the best music ever composed by a human being since mankind exists.

I encourage everyone to step into the world of classical music. It has so much to offer and will broaden your musical perspective, no matter which musical genre you like the most. Listening to other styles of music will make you a better musician.

A big thank you to Guido Marggrander and all other classical percussionist who use our cymbals for making them - and the music - sound so incredible.
