i am going to start a series in which i am introducing some of the people behind the scenes here at meinl. workmates, who are not in the foreground, but who play an important role in our operation. i feel that their commitment and passion for meinl deserves to be put in the spotlight too. without their hard work we would not be where we are today.
let's get started with our colleague klaus wilfer.
name: klaus wilfer
with meinl since: 1996
position at meinl: dispatch manager
favourite music: death metal
side note: human encyclopedia
klaus pulls and packs all the cymbals and cymbal accessories which we ship out to our customers in more than 70 countries worldwide. this requires a precise accuracy in packing every single piece so our shipping department is able to issue all necessary export documents. many times i would stand at our namm booth during set-up not being able to find the box of tools, or that specific cymbal without klaus's precise packing and having documented literally everything for me. that's an invaluable help.
and to all you meinl artists out there in europe, asia, and australia: every box of cymbals we ship to you has been packed by klaus.
he also is a human encyclopedia when it comes to organising our inventory. anything i or one of my colleagues ever look for, klaus is able to tell me out of the top of his head if it is still on stock, and if yes, how many and where exactly. there has never (really never) been a case where any of klaus' information he has given to us has not been correct. he anticipates and solves problems before they arise. klaus is one of those guys who don't need to say much. they just know what needs to be done and get it done.
i think i speak on behalf of all my colleagues when i say that klaus is an integral part of our operation. we all respect him very much and rely on him 100%. his work for meinl is priceless. period.
