Meinl Cymbals welcomes Helen De La Rosa to its family of cymbal artists.

Growing up in the Dominican Republic, Helen graduated from the National Conservatory of Music of Santo Domingo. She received a presidential scholarship to attend the Berklee College of Music. While at Berklee, Helen received the Terri Lynne Carrington award two years in a row (2014/2015). Helen has worked as a drummer and engineer for Amalur with whom she went on tour in Central America in May 2015, where they performed and gave several master classes. She also participated as a Berklee student ambassador in India (Nov, 2015) were she gave several master classes in Mumbai and New Delhi and played with the virtuoso bass player Mohini Dey. She graduated from Berkee in 2016, with a Bachelor’s degree in Performance and a minor in Music Production and Engineering.

After graduation, Helen went on tour with sax player Donny McCaslin (May 2016), won the 2016 “Hit Like a Girl” drum contest, played at JEN 2016 for Socrates Garcia’s Latin Jazz Orchestra, played with bass player Victor Wooten, and worked with: musical duo Wendy & Lisa (of  Prince fame), Grammy award winning producer Javier Limón, and Antonio Serrano (former harmonica player for Paco de Lucia) to name a few.

Helen is a driven young woman who loves music and who is dedicated to encouraging and inspiring others. One of her main goals in music is to break with the paradigms and limitations often imposed on women in the music industry. That’s why teaching has always been part of her passion. Welcome Helen!
