These comments should really be about the music, not on tuning techniques. I do not dampen my drums which produces a huge sound in the concrete basement room I play in. I often record my practices with a small digital camera. The play back sounds just as dead as on this video. Consider the situation, room, and the fact you are not sitting in the same room as the drum set being played. So to the guy who said Robert Biesewig is an idiot for taping his drums, you are the idiot.

Good playing but you really should put some time into learning to tune your drums properly! ANYONE who has to put freaking TAPE on their heads is totally ignorant to tuning their drums!! The natural sound of a drum is beautiful when tuned properly.

Dude, it's the drummer's choice of how he/she wants the drums to sound. If he's satisfied with the sound of his kit, then why should bother you so much?
Don't watch the video if it kills you that bad.
OR...
Just watch it with your eyes closed.
Either way, this is killer drumming. This guy's a chops MACHINE!

The toms may sound 'dead' to some but I'm a believer in tuning your drums to how you want them to sound. And if you really don't like that, you should understand that music is expression and putting a choke hold on expression is just wrong. So keep your unnecessary comments to yourself and enjoy music.

this is just great! great playing and feel. the cymbals are crazy for sure!!
@jo jo, a lot of the best drummers in the world tape their drumheads or use moongel in order to get more control of the sound, especially in a studio situation. i'd like to hear you play on your kit and then show us how to tune properly!
