Biography
Henry de Jong has been the drummer for the New Zealand thrash metal band Alien Weaponry since the formation of the band in 2010. Starting humbly in the island town of Waipu when brothers Henry (drums) and Lewis de Jong (guitars, vocals) were young children, Alien Weaponry — rounded out by new bassist Tūranga Morgan-Edmonds — have recently been hailed as the “future of metal” by esteemed music bible Metal Hammer and voted by Revolver fans as “one of the bands most likely to break out in 2021.” His biggest drumming influences are Chris Adler, Mario Duplantier, and Tomas Haake. Alien Weaponry’s lyrics are a mixture of English and Te Reo Māori (the native language of New Zealand), and Henry is of Ngati Pikiāo and Ngati Raukawa (Māori tribal) descent.
