Biography
Shawn Crowder, a Colorado native, began his drumming career in New York City in 2010, working as an in-demand session player. He is the drummer for the band Sungazer, alongside bassist Adam Neely. Sungazer has released two EPs since the band’s start in 2014 and released their long-awaited debut full-length album, Perihelion, on October 11th, 2021. The duo has toured and given masterclasses across the U.S., India, and Europe, including tours with Ghost-Note, Moon Hooch, and Shubh Saran.
In 2014, Shawn joined the touring band for Tunisian singer Emel Mathlouthi, with whom he has played 150+ concerts in 24 countries. Shawn is also a member the PLS.trio, whose 2015 album East River was nominated for Best Debut Album and Best New Release in the NPR Jazz Critics Poll.
Shawn is a graduate of the Berklee College of Music. He held a guest faculty teaching position for 5 years at the annual Berklee Percussion Festival in Boston. Since 2019, Shawn has garnered a sizable following on his YouTube channel, where he posts unique educational videos and shares his experiences as a professional touring & recording musician.
