INSTALLATION OF A WOODCHIP-PELLET HEATING
We are pleased to announce that our new woodchip-pellet heating system for our cymbal factory facilities is now fully operating.
Our goal at Meinl Cymbals is to achieve climate neutral production while reducing our carbon footprint even more.
Our old and inefficient oil heating system, which used 35,728 liters (9,438 gallons) of oil last year, has been replaced with a woodchip-pellet heating system “Made in Austria.“ It is preferably powered by woodchips made from waste wood in our area's forests, leftover wood from sawmills, or simply wood that can no longer be industrially processed. It can also be powered simply by using wood heating pellets.
This type of heating system is CO2 neutral. The trees we use have absorbed CO2 from the air over their lifetimes, which is now released back into the atmosphere through combustion. As a result, it is climate neutral, allowing us to save another 90 tons of CO2 per year, and for many years to come.
The total investment for this project has been around $420,000.
